Why are you stressed??

This is the crux of the issue, you may already know why you’re stressed and just need to find ways to deal with it but like many, maybe you have never really had the chance to analyse your life to figure out what’s causing you all this tension. If this is the case then you really need to identify ALL the stressors in your life and find out which ones are causing the problems. Bear in mind that we all have stress and in fact need a certain amount, as otherwise why would we bother getting up in the morning at all? What you are looking for here are things that are playing on your mind all the time, upsetting you and making you tense up.

How do you currently cope with stress?
Do you smoke or drink or just explode on your nearest and dearest and then feel worse afterwards? It’s time you tried something constructive like meditation, exercise and talking to someone you trust. Having healthy ways to let off steam and relax is very important in combating the problems that stress can bring.

Here are some of the things that help de-stress even the most highly strung person.

  1. Identify the stresses in your life and minimise or cut them out
  2. Exercise – Great way of combating all that pent up aggression, releases endorphins that make you happy and has the added bonus of keeping you fit
  3. Walk in the countryside or if you live in a city then visit your nearest park and try and appreciate nature, you’ll find this is good for the soul
  4. Put aside some time just for you, to do the things you like to do
  5. Read a book or get back into a hobby you like
  6. Meditate daily
  7. Change your thought patterns so you are talking to yourself positively – tell yourself to take a deep breath when you feel yourself tensing up
  8. Talk – Find someone who will listen. Just letting off a bit of steam and knowing that someone understands where you are coming from can help
  9. Get some perspective – Rise above the chaos and realise that you are just human and can’t do everything.

Most of all you have to realise that you are in control of your life and that you want it to be enjoyable and fun and even though you have things on your mind or someone who winds you up you don’t have to stay stuck in a rut.
